Today’s students must be bi-literate: capable of reading in both digital and traditional print mediums. As NAEP reading scores have illustrated, we need to help all students develop a wide range of reading skills in order for them to be able to learn content with confidence. In this session Carol Jago will offer research and insights from her book, The Book in Question: Why and How Reading Is in Crisis and demonstrate strategies for scaffolding complex text for hesitant readers. The more students read, the more they know. The more students know, the more they will be able to do.
